It’s one more slam dunk for a tune from the 1990s to make it deep into the Shazam Top 100 courtesy of ESPN’s Michael Jordan doc The Last Dance.
This week it’s “Present Tense” by Pearl Jam from their 1996 (Epic release No Code. The Mike McCready-penned song appears in the 10th and final episode of The Last Dance.
Two synchs on Netflix find their way into the Top 5 of the biggest movers: Bazzi’s “Paradise” (iamcosmic/Atlantic) is the end credit song for The Lovebirds; and Katie Pruitt’s cover of Sam Cooke’s “Change is Gonna Come” appears in an episode of the series Sweet Magnolias.
The lone new track attracting thumbs is the smash from Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande “Rain on Me” (Interscope).
Dig deep enough into YouTube and you’ll find “Becha Y Okha” from Russia’s DJ Smash, a song that seems unavailable anywhere else in the U.S.
In the U.K., Shazamers have developed a taste for Conkarah f/Shaggy’s twist on an old Harry Belafonte hit, “Banana.”
