WEEZER HONORS HEROES

Weezer is paying tribute to frontline workers during the pandemic with a new song, “Hero,” and a charitable effort to help hospital workers during these troubled times. It’s their first new material since last year’s “End Of The Game.”

“Hero” appears on the Crush-managed band’s forthcoming 14th album, Van Weezer, which was originally set for release this month. A new release date will be announced soon.

The band is teaming with Postmates and Feed Hero Nurses to support healthcare heroes caring for COVID-19 patients. Tonight, nurses at L.A.’s Good Samaritan Hospital will be sent meals from Uncle Paulie’s Deli during their breaks.

Dedicated to “the stay at home dreamers, the zoom graduators, the sourdough bakers, and the essential workers” in the YouTube description, the video features fans hanging with their pets, scuba diving, showering and more as they virtually pass around a letter penned by frontman Rivers Cuomo from screen to screen.

At the end, Cuomo’s letter gives thanks to the frontline workers, “While the rest of us retreated to our homes, you ran towards the threat in a battle you didn't even know you signed up for. Your bravery and selflessness are awe-inspiring. You are the reason we shall rock another day. Life is good, and for all of this, we thank you."
