Let’s Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince did so well in the ratings that CBS will re-air the special on Saturday night at 8.
With 6.49m viewers, a 1.0 in the 18-49 demo and a 1.6 in the 25-54 demo, the Ken Ehrlich-produced extravaganza (his final such special for the Grammys) was Tuesday night’s #1 program in key demos and was the highest-rated Grammy Salute in key demos since 2017’s Stayin’ Alive: Grammy Salute to The Bee Gees.
It's something of a novelty to see a bunch of people rocking on a stage together, and there are some truly electrifying, moving moments; Earth, Wind & Fire, Mavis Staples, The Time, Miguel, Gary Clark Jr., Beck, St. Vincent and H.E.R. are among the guests who shine, and musical director Sheila E. is a particular marvel (the reaction shot of an amazed Dave Grohl during her Timbale solo is priceless).
Since the initial airing, Warners' The Very Best of Prince has been Top 5 at iTunes and Purple Rain has returned to the Top 30.
For a little taste, here’s Gary Clark Jr.
