STRIKE UP THE BAND

Secure in their abilities to nail the four-part harmonies on “The Weight” are, from left, CAA’s Rob Light, Robbie Robertson and Imagine’s Michael Rosenberg and Justin Wilkes.

The L.A. premiere for Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band was held this week at CAA’s Ray Kurtzman Theater with Robertson, director Daniel Roher, UMe President & CEO Bruce Resnikoff (pictured at left), Executive Producer Ron Howard and the Belfast Cowboy, Van Morrison, in attendance.

The documentary opens in theaters in L.A. and New York on 2/21 and nationally on 2/28. Robertson recently released his first solo album in eight years, Sinematic (UMe), which features a duet with Van Morrison.

UMe also recently put out a 50th anniversary editions of The Band, the second album from Roberston, Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson.

Van Morrison and Robbie Robertson, who first recorded together in 1971 on The Band’s Cahoots, join Once Were Brothers director Daniel Roher in putting on happy faces after the keg of Guinness has run out.
