U.K. CHARTS: ELBOW IN AT #1

By more than doubling the sales of their closest competitor, Elbow has secured their third #1 on the U.K. Official Albums Chart. There was plenty of movement in the top 10 at songs, but Tones and I holds onto the top spot for third week.

Landing straight in at the top spot, Giants of All Sizes is the seventh #1 album for Polydor in the U.K. since 10/19/18, the most for any label in the period. Giants of All Sizes is also this week’s best-selling album on vinyl.

While there were no other new Top 10 entries, two soundtracks made their way back in: Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody (Virgin) jumped five places to #7 and The Greatest Showman (Atlantic) rebounded six spots to #9.

The new Freddie Mercury solo collection Never Boring (Virgin) debuts at 18, one slot ahead of Metal Galaxy by Absolute’s Japanese kawaii metal band Babymetal. Lil Tjay’s debut True 2 Myself opens at #22.

Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey” (Parlophone) enjoyed its best week on the chart to date with 85,000 chart sales, including 9.4m streams. Harry Styles scored the week’s highest new entry with “Lights Up” (Columbia), his second U.K. Top 40 single.

Regard’s “Ride It” (Ministry of Sound) rose a slot to #2, while Ed Sheeran f/Camila Cabello and Cardi B’s “South of the Border” (Atlantic) climbed 17 spots to #7. Jorja Smith’s highest charting single to date, “Be Honest” (FAMM) was up three places to #8; Lewis Capaldi made it into the Top 10 for the fourth time with “Bruises” (Virgin EMI) at #9; and Sam Feldt’sPost Malone” (Spinnin’) is up three rungs to #10.
