Tim Leiweke and Irving Azoff’s Oak View Group is teaming with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians to build in downtown Palm Springs. Live Nation will be booking the venue.
The arena, being built on 16 acres of Agua Caliente land, will have up to 10,000 seats. Construction is scheduled to begin in February.
“We look forward to working with Agua Caliente to build what we consider to be one of the most premiere music and professional sports arenas in the world,” said Leiweke, CEO of Oak View Group.
It’s possible the arena will also be used by a minor league hockey team as NHL Seattle and OVG jointly applied for an AHL expansion team that would began playing in Palm Springs in 2021, the year Seattle gets an NHL team.
We also hear Nate ‘n Al is eyeing the concessions contract.
