HITS HIGH 5: CELEBRATION DAY

Before you head off to celebrate Passover, Easter, the Theravada New Year or the birth of Muḥammad ibn Al-Ḥasan al-Mahdī, take a look at the week’s highlights in the HITS High 5. We’ll be getting an early start on our own personal high holy day, 4/20.

Ron Perry has Columbia on a hot streak.

We saw the return of the superdivas: Beyonce released a live album to accompany her documentary; Madonna dropped "Medellín," her new single with global star Maluma ahead of her forthcoming Live Nation/Maverick/Interscope set Madam X; Katy Perry appears on the new version of Daddy Yankee’s “Con Calma”; and a new Taylor Swift single is a week away.

BTS hit the top of the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with Map of the Soul: Persona (BigHit) and looking at a #1 in the U.S. as well. A week ago, BTS became the first K-Pop act to surpass 5b streams on Spotify.

In celebration of Earth Day, rapper Lil Dicky revealed his serious side, gathering a cavalcade of stars to appear in the lavish seven-minute video for his new single, "Earth" (Commission/BMG).

Revenue at UMG soared in the first quarter of 2019 to $1.7b, a 23% rise from 2018.

Happy holidays.
