TROY CARTER: THE BIG QUESTION, ANSWERED

Troy Carter has announced his long-awaited big move. As expected, he's reuniting with longtime collaborator J. Erving for a music/tech startup, Q&A.

Suzy Ryoo, who worked with Carter at Atom Factory, and Tim Luckow (previously of Stem, among other entities) will also be part of the team. The new company will offer distribution, management, label services and data analytics.

Q&A will merge with Human Re Sources, the distribution and label services company Erving launched last year and which quickly established proof of concept by earning major streams for its acts. The first release for the merged companies is Philly's Pink Sweat$.

"My time spent at Spotify allowed me the opportunity to see gaps that still exist between the music business and technology,” says Carter. “Modern artists have to be more entrepreneurial than ever before. I've also come to understand that the Swedish diet is extremely underwhelming."

This industry is ever-changing and creators are more proactive today than I’ve ever seen," says Erving, whose friendship with Carter goes back to their youth in Philly. "Troy and I have always taken an artist-forward approach to the music business and we believe that artists and their needs should always be put first."
