STREAMING SONGS: HORSE POWER

"Old Town Road" by Columbia phenom Lil Nas X—who flew to the top of the major DSPs' charts seemingly out of nowhere—has claimed the top spot on this week's Streaming Songs Chart, muscling past heavyweights like Post Malone and J. Cole. Jumping #12-1, the track racked up 21.2m+ streams, outpacing Post's "Wow" by 1.7m or so.

As you've doubtless read on this very site, the Texas-bred rapper's "country trap" smash, with its "horses in the back refrain," got a further adrenaline shot from a viral video wave on TikTok and elsewhere. Billboard summarily removed the twangy jam from its country chart, setting off a firestorm (see link below).

XO/Republic's NAV, who tops this week's Top 50 chart, debuts at #20 with "Tap" f/Meek Mill, while Interscope's Rich the Kid lands at #31 with Splashin" and #45 with "Fall Threw" f/Young Thug & Gunna. Rich's labelmate, Billie Eilish, about whom you may have heard the occasional murmur, moves #40-35 with "bury a friend." Marshmello f/CHVRCHES (Joytime Collective/Glassnote/Republic) arrives at #41 with "Here With Me."
