Chris Stapleton, Dan + Shay and Grammy champ Kacey Musgraves are on the leader board for the 54th annual ACM Awards. Stapleton and Dan + Shay have six noms each and Musgraves, with five, will see if she can keep her award-winning streak alive.
Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osbourne, Florida Georgia Line and first-time nominee Bebe Rexha received four noms each.
Fresh off their Grammy wins, Kacey Musgraves and Dan + Shay are up for the ACM Awards for Song of the Year for “Space Cowboy” and “Tequila,” respectively. Entertainer of Year contenders, meanwhile, are all men.
Musgraves’ collaborator on “Space Cowboy,” Shane McAnally, is up for Songwriter of the Year against Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley, Josh Osborne and the only other person with a Song of the Year nom, Chase McGill (“Break Up in the End”).
Musgraves is also up for Female Artist of the Year and Dan + Shay is also nominated for top duo. Among Dan + Shay’s noms is Music Event of the Year for “Keeping Score” with Kelly Clarkson.
Other Female Artist of the Year nominees are Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris and Carrie Underwood.
Up for Male Artist of the Year are Dierks Bentley, Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban.
The Entertainer of the Year nominees are Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Stapleton, Kenny Chesney and Urban. Reba McEntire announced nominees for the top awards today on CBS This Morning, expressing surprise about the lack of female representation on the EOTY category.
"There are a lot of talented women working their butts off," she said. "I'm missing my girlfriends on this [list]."
Lady Antebellum, Lanco, Little Big Town, Midland and Old Dominion are the Group of the Year nominees. Besides Dan + Shay, Duo of the Year noms went to reigning winners Brothers Osborne, Florida Georgia Line, Locash and Maddie & Tae.
Musgrave’s multi-Grammy-winning Golden Hour is up for Album of the Year against Dan + Shay’s self-titled release, Eric Church’s Desperate Man, Stapleton’s From a Room: Volume 2 and Bentley’s The Mountain.
Stapleton and Musgraves are up as artist and producer in Album of the Year and as songwriter and artist in Song of the Year.
Ian Fitchuk, a producer on Musgraves’ Golden Hour, is up for six awards as well, though mostly in the musician categories of Bass Player, Drummer and Piano/Keyboards Player of the Year.
The ACM rolled out the nominations between CBS and various online platforms, among them Facebook and ETonline. For a list with industry awards, click here.
The 54th ACM Awards will be held 4/7 at MGM Grand’s Garden Arena in Las Vegas. CBS will air the show.
