Shawn Mendes, who snagged a pair of Grammy noms earlier this month, has something new to celebrate—he sold out his very first stadium show in a matter of minutes. The fact that the stadium in question is Rogers Centre in his hometown of Toronto renders the accomplishment that much sweeter.
The 9/6 show will be the final date of the North American leg of Mendes’ 2019 tour, which includes a 7/5 stop at L.A.’s Staples Center and an 8/10 concert at the Prudential Center in beautiful downtown Newark.
Mendes describes the Toronto show as “a dream come true,” adding, “And now, to have sold it out is just incredible and something I could have only ever imagined.”
Touring legend Louis Messina shares the youngster’s excitement. “I guarantee this is the first of many stadiums in his near future,” he promises.
Adds manager Andrew Gertler, “Since day one, Shawn has put his all into to his live shows. We set the goal to end this tour with a sold-out stadium and achieved that faster than I think any of us expected. He always had big dreams to play big venues, and to now have risen to stadium level is just the beginning of more to come.”
Kawhi Leonard had no comment.
