MAC MILLER,
1992-2018

TMZ has reported that hip-hop star Mac Miller died of an apparent overdose. He was 26 years old.

Miller recently released Swimming via Warner Bros. which debuted at #4 in mid-August. He had just announced a headlining tour yesterday with Thundercat and J.I.D. as support.

A native of Pittsburgh, Miller released several mixtapes before signing a record deal with Rostrum Records at the age of 18.

His debut studio album, Blue Slide Park, bowed at #1 in 2011 with 145K, becoming the first independent release to top the chart since Tha Dogg Pound's Dogg Food in 1995.

In 2014 Miller parted ways with Rostrum and signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Records. Swimming was his fifth and final album, and his third album released through Warner.

Statement from Warner Bros. Records:

“All of us at Warner Bros. Records are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic news of Mac Miller’s untimely passing. Mac was a hugely gifted and inspiring artist, with a pioneering spirit and a sense of humor that touched everyone he met. Mac’s death is a devastating loss and cuts short a life and a talent of huge potential, where the possibilities felt limitless. We join all of his fans across the globe in extending our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.” – Tom Corson, Co-Chairman/COO, WBR
