Willie Nelson wants to make a tour stop with Donald Trump. The Texas troubadour has tweeted an invitation to Trump to inspect detention centers in Texas where children separated from their parents are being housed.
Using the Twitter account that belongs to his wife, Annie D’Angelo, Nelson wrote, “Let’s go down to a border detention center together to better understand what’s happening down there?! Let’s talk!”
Six days ago, Nelson issued a statement that read in part, "What's going on at our southern border is outrageous. Christians everywhere should be up in arms. What happened to 'Bring us your tired and weak and we will make them strong?' This is still the promise land," a reference to David Lynn Jones' song "Living in the Promiseland" that Nelson recorded 32 years ago.
Trump, who still can’t get his facts straight, continues to use twitter like an old man yelling for kids to get off his lawn, saying “obsolete & nasty laws” are the root of the issue.
In the last 24 hours, the Pope, Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder have denounced the Trump administration’s separation of children from their families at the Texas border.
