A stage musical inspired by the life of Michael Jackson is being developed by the late singer’s estate and Columbia Live Stage, the theatrical productions division of Sony Pictures.
The score will be filled with hits from throughout Jackson's career. The show has yet to be titled though a 2020 arrival on Broadway is anticipated.
Christopher Wheeldon, who adapted the 1951 film An American in Paris into a Broadway musical, will direct and choreograph; playwright Lynn Nottage (Sweat, Ruined, Intimate Apparel) will write the book.
Columbia Live Stage President Lia Vollack is also a producer of the show.
The Jackson estate has previously been behind two Cirque du Soleil shows, Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour and Michael Jackson: One.
