U.K. MIDWEEKS: BAY BREEZES TO #2

James Bay’s second album, Electric Light (Virgin EMI), is on course to hit #2 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, while Five Finger Death Punch starts at #4. Over on Singles, Clean Bandit have the highest new entry at midweek stage.

Electric Light follows Bay’s 2015 top-selling debut, Chaos and the Calm, which reached #1 in the U.K. The Greatest Showman soundtrack (Atlantic) is currently scuppering his chances of hitting the top again, as it looks set to spend a 16th non-consecutive week at #1.

Five Finger Death Punch are today’s second highest new entry with And Justice for None (Eleven Seven) heading for a career-best at #4.

K-pop band BTS are at #7 today with third album, Love Yourself: Tear (BigHit), followed by Courtney Barnett with Tell Me How You Feel (Marathon) at #8.

Finally, with Royal Wedding fever gripping the U.K. after Saturday’s ceremony, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who performed on the day, is back in the Top 40 at #19 with his debut, Inspiration (Decca). The Royal Wedding: The Album sits at #46 on the compilations chart 48 hours after release.

According to the Official Singles midweek update, Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa are set for a sixth week at #1 with “One Kiss” (Columbia/Warner Bros.). The track is 5k combined sales ahead of its nearest rival, Ariana Grande with “No Tears Left to Cry” (Republic).

Further down, Jess Glynne is up six places to #7 with “I’ll Be There” (Atlantic), while label mates Clean Bandit f/ Demi Lovato could claim the highest new entry with “Solo” at #13.
