"Have you always been covered in glittery rainbow fish scales?" HITS' Michael Dominguez asked officemate Kenz Meadows at Lykke Li's listening party earlier this week. "I think so," she answered. "Also, what the fuck was in that party punch?" When the duo then reached for the YOLA Mezcal shots, Crush Head of A&R Evan Taubenfeld and the RCA songstress suggested they'd had enough... Only after a rousing round of Pin the Tail on the Weasel, though.
At the event for her forthcoming album, so sad so sexy, the Swede demonstrated her undeniable cool-factor in front of a who's-who of VIPs. Held at producer Andrew Wyatt's swank abode, notable attendees included Alicia Keys, Miley Cyrus, Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker, Rostam, iHeartRadio's Lisa Worden, Geffen's Neil Jacobson and plenty more.
The set drops 6/8 and is an exciting addition to the artist's evolving body of work, demonstrating serious talent and malleability. To tide folks over until its release, Li released two singles—“deep end,” produced by Jeff Bhasker, Malay and T-Minus, and “hard rain,” produced by Rostam Batmanglij. Check 'em out below.
Introducing her album to the crowd, Li noted "I've never lived in America before... It's pretty fucked up." She also declared her love of hip-hop and money. We heartily concur with all of the above.
