SCHUSSER TO ROCK APPLE MUSIC'S WORLD

With Jimmy Iovine’s tenure as leader of Apple Music due to end in August, the company has tapped a new head for its streaming division. Former head of International Oliver Schusser has been upped to VP of Apple Music & International Content, reporting to Eddy Cue.

Schusser, an 11-year veteran of the company whom Cue brought aboard, has previously focused on ex-U.S. apps and media and is credited with a big role in the company’s acquisition of Shazam. He’ll relocate to California from London—shuttling between Cupertino and Culver City—and will be issued a pair of shades and a vape pen upon arrival.

Schusser’s appointment speaks to the planetary ambitions of Apple, which seeks to challenge global leader Spotify in the ex-U.S. streaming games; as we reported earlier, Apple recently claimed 40m worldwide subscribers.

Another company veteran, Tracey Hannelly, will lead international, reporting to Schusser.
