Big singles get a big thumbs up this week as Shazamers are hitting the blue button when they hear Drake, Calvin Harris and Cardi B.
Drake’s surprise release from Friday, “Nice for What” (YMCMB/Republic), is the greatest gainer on the Shazam USA Top 100, rising to #14. One slot down is the Calvin Harris-Dua Lipa Columbia track, though in the U.K., their places are reversed. (U.K. viewers of American Crime Story and Billions are learning about Laura Branigan and Counting Crows, respectively).
The Drake and Harris tracks settle in ahead of two songs from Cardi B’s just-released debut album on Atlantic.
C2C, a French electronic act, rounds out the Top 5 on the greatest gainers list with their 2012 song “Down the Road.” The track played over the end credits of HBO’s Silicon Valley after Jian-Yang booted the Pied Piper guys from his house.
