SPOTIFY TARGETS JENKINS

Spotify has brought in Dustee Jenkins, former communications chief for Target, to coordinate corporate PR and messaging prior to the streaming company going public.

Spotify did not make an announcement but confirmed the hire to multiple outlets after Recode broke the story. Jenkins will report to Chief Marketing Officer Seth Farbman and be based in New York; publicists Graham James, in New York, and Angela Watts, in London, will report to Jenkins.

Jenkins started at Target in 2010 and left in June as the retailer’s EVP and Chief Communications Officer. Previously, she worked for Public Strategies and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Spotify is reportedly looking at a direct listing rather than IPO, and its launch could happen by year’s end. With new licensing deals in place with the three majors, the final hurdle has apparently been crossed.
