BEATPORT GROOVES WITH MCDANIELS

Media/technology entrepreneur and INgrooves founder Robb McDaniels has been named CEO of Beatport where he will strengthen the company's position as a leading online music store for DJs and the global dance music community.

McDaniels, who founded INgrooves in 2002, was most recently a venture partner for Dubai-based investment company TechInvest, and launched Faction Entertainment, a management services business with a client list that includes Thievery Corporation, Youngblood Hawke and Jamestown Revival, in 2016. He will continue with both those jobs and expand Faction’s presence in the dance and electronic music community.

Chuck Ciongoli, EVP/CFO of Beatport’s parent company LiveStyle, said, McDaniels “is an extremely capable and dynamic senior executive who will help Beatport continue to grow as the DJ destination of the future.”

Beatport notes that it went on a comprehensive genre cleanup this year, re-categorizing more than 1.5m tracks. We noticed that our favorite songs are no longer garage and house, but have been moved to categories of front porch, guest closet and outhouse.
