SPOTIFY TAKES THE STAGE

Spotify has entered the live music business with its first event in Blighty. Who We Be, featuring a host of rap and grime artists, will take place 11/30 at the 10k-capacity Alexandra Palace in London.

Who We Be, named for the popular playlist with 145k followers, will feature Dizzee Rascal, Giggs, J Hus, Stefflon Don, Bugzy Malone and Cardi B. It’s being heavily promoted via banner ads spotted within the service today. Tickets for the gig are priced at £38.50.

The announcement arrives on the heels of Apple Music axing its annual month-long music festival in London.

Creating offshoot events for popular playlists is an idea Spotify’s George Ergatoudis hinted at in our U.K. Special interview last year. The event is similar to that of a recent takeover by grime collective, Boy Better Know, at London’s 20k. cap O2 Arena.
