TAY CRUSHES ADELE'S ONE-DAY RECORD ON YOUTUBE (UPDATE)

Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" continues to steamroll its way into the history books, and the brand new video, which became its own moment when debuting during the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night, has set a new viewership record.

YouTube announced that Swift's video has been viewed 43.2m times in its first 24 hours of release. Her previous best was the girl-squad-powered "Bad Blood" video that ramped up 20.1m views in its first day. Adele topped her in October 2015 when "Hello" racked up 27.7m.

"Look What You Made Me Do" far outpaced the prediction of 30m views in a single day.

Obviously all those hidden references, which are being analyzed and pored over by fans and press alike, haven't hurt.
