NEW U.K. DEALS: FLOOR SIXX LAUNCHES

BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ and rising U.K. industry star Sian Anderson has teamed with rapper Jason Black (aka J2K) to launch underground music company FLOOR SIXX in association with Bucks Music Group. In other U.K. signing news, Welsh duo Dusky Grey have signed a long term deal with Warner’s East West Records.

FLOOR SIXX aims to celebrate the best underground music across a range of genres by releasing exclusive singles and videos on its own channels across Deezer, VEVO, iTunes and Spotify. Grime and afrobeat music is the focus for 2017. Bucks Music Group will take care of worldwide administration, business affairs, sync and licensing, as well as publishing all tracks on an upcoming compilation. The proceeds of each track released will go into the FLOOR SIXX MUSIC ACADEMY—a ten week mentoring programme for artists and aspiring execs.

It will also fund signings, the first of which is an exclusive publishing deal with London MC Capo Lee who recently released his Stop Talk EP. Anderson was previously Marketing Manager for Atlantic Records. She’s played a role in the early careers of Ed Sheeran and Lianne La Havas, and worked on campaigns for Jess Glynne, Wiley and Joss Stone in addition to launching her own consultancy and project management agency, SighTracked.

Discussing her new venture, Anderson said: “For years I’ve known Harri [Davis, A&R Manager] and Sarah [Liversedge Platz, Director Creative A&R] at Bucks to be real lovers of music of all genres and key figures in regard to nurturing artists as well as delivering successfully as publishers. This is a huge move for us, Bucks really see our vision and we’re all really excited about having Capo Lee as our first project, he’s a brilliant artist.”
