U.K. MIDWEEKS: GORILLAZ BARELY AHEAD

Gorillaz are marginally ahead of Ed Sheeran on the U.K.’s midweek album chart as Humanz (Parlophone) sits 300 combined sales ahead of ÷ (Atlantic). On the singles list, DJ Khaled is heading for a personal best with “I’m the One” (Black Butter).

Warner U.K.’s year of success looks set to continue with the Gorillaz album, which is released on Miles Leonard's imprint Parlophone. It's the first album in six years for the project, helmed by Damon Albarn, and fifth overall. Management is Niamh Byrne at Eleven. Max Lousada’s label has the top two Official Albums chart spots this week, and looks likely to boast nine consecutive weeks at #1 come Friday.

Sony’s Rag’n’Bone Man is still #3 with Human (Columbia), followed by Steps with Tears on the Dancefloor (Steps Music) at #4 and Kendrick Lamar with DAMN. (Polydor) at #5.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, Khaled’s collab with Justin Bieber, Migos, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne is 2k sales ahead of Clean Bandit’s “Symphony” (Atlantic). Whether it holds its midweek peak, the single hugely improves Khaled’s British personal best which was when “For Free” f/Drake hit #25 last summer.

Sheeran is #3 and #4 with “Shape of You” and “Galway Girl” respectively. Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee rise 17 places to #5 with the new version of “Despacito” f/Justin Bieber.
