HOUSE VOTES TO STRIP BROADBAND PRIVACY
Internet privacy is one step closer to the scrap heap as the House of Representatives voted Tuesday to overturn FCC’s broadband privacy rules. The vote was 215 to 205, split largely by party lines. The new law would allow Internet Service Providers like Comcast and Verizon to mine data from its users browsing habits without their consent to target advertisers. The legislation is now on its way to the White House. If, as expected, President Trump signs off on the law, the new rules would take effect later in 2017.
