LA LA LAND GETS THE CONCERT TREATMENT

Justin Hurwitz is taking his Oscar-winning score and songs for La La Land on the road with a 100-piece orchestra, choir, jazz ensemble and the film itself in tow. The live music/film event has its premiere 5/26 & 27 in La La Land at the Hollywood Bowl.

Composer managers Laura Engel & Richard Kraft and Tim Fox & Alison Ahart William, the producing quartet behind the touring Tim Burton/Danny Elfman shows and several film music programs at the Bowl, are producing the event. Andrew Hewitt & Bill Silva Presents, who produce most lease events at the Bowl, are also presenting.

Future stops for the musicians and the Lionsgate film are planned in Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, San Diego, San Antonio, Dallas, Indianapolis, Nashville, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Denver and Washington, D.C. among other cities. Promoters are looking to take it internationally as well with U.K., Canada, Mexico, Italy, Turkey and Switzerland. Dates will be announced later.

“By preserving the film's unique recorded vocal performances of Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and John Legend from the film's soundtrack and blending them with live musicians," said Kraft, the concert's director, "we are able to build a one-of-kind concert experience, which becomes a hybrid of film, pre-recordings and incredible live musicianship."

Tickets go on sale Friday.
