The first headliners for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2017 are Sony-signed Kings of Leon (Columbia), Little Mix (Syco) and indie act Stormzy. Held in Hull’s Burton Constable Hall on 5/27-28, the annual free jaunt will host over 50,000 music fans.
The majority of tickets will go to the residents of Hull—a riverside city in the northeast of Blighty—and surrounding areas. Further information about the event, including the full line-up, will be announced on Radio 1 in the coming months. The festival will be broadcast live on Radio 1 and streamed online.
Martin Green, Director Hull UK City of Culture 2017, is pleased as punch to be hosting the event. "It's a massive coup for the city and confirms its growing international profile as THE place to be," he said.
