APPLE ENTERS THE CARPOOL LANE

As we previously reported last summer, Apple bought an unscripted series from James Corden, based on the Late Late Show host's now beloved bit, Carpool Karaoke. Now, Variety is reporting that the show, which doesn't have a release date yet, will be rolled out as 16 half-hour segments via Apple Music. It's also worth noting that the series will have a different host in the drivers' seat for every episode.

Apparently, already-confirmed pairings include John Legend with Alicia Keys and Seth MacFarlane with Ariana Grande. However, fans can also expect to see "more outside-the-box choices like Billy Eichner in the passenger seat, surrounded by the band Metallica, or former NFL star and talk show host Michael Strahan with NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon."

Corden will continue to do Carpool Karaoke as a segment on the Late Late Show, considering that the extended version—Apple Music's first show—allows for more non-traditional and non-musical pairings, as well as prolonged interviews. May we suggest a Streep/Trump showdown? That would be something.
