Three new releases have at least temporarily broken up the soundtrack stranglehold on iTunes’ Album chart. And Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill” have shot to #1 and 2 in the Songs Top 10 the morning of their release.
Halestorm’s collection of six covers by Metallica, Joan Jett and others, ReAniMate 3.0 (WEA), opens at #1 followed by Dropkick Murphys’ 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory (Born and Bred). They too get in a cover: Gerry and the Pacemakers’ “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” the theme song of Liverpool’s soccer team.
Pink Guy, the alter ego of YouTube personality Filthy Frank, comes in at #4 with his self-released Pink Season.
