A Pentatonix Christmas was the top-performing album released during the fourth quarter of 2016. The group’s second collection of holiday songs was the lone Q4 release to surpass a million units in the key sales-plus-streaming metric, outpointing The Weeknd’s Starboy by just under 40k. But Starboy dominated Q4 in the TEA and SEA breakdowns.
In terms of pure sales, A Pentatonix Christmas finished #5 among all albums in 2016—despite being available for only the final 10 weeks on the year (it dropped 10/21).
The Q4 Top 5 is a varied assortment, encompassing retro-soul (Bruno Mars), straight-up hip-hop (J. Cole) and hard rock (Metallica) as well as pop and seasonal.
