It’s no illusion: Lady Gaga’s Joanne (Interscope) has shot straight to #1 on the iTunes albums chart, lording over nine new entries in the Top 10. Another seven rookies occupy slots 11-20, among them Pentatonix, Amy Grant and Sarah McLachlan offering early Christmas wishes.
On the streaming side, Joanne is #4 on Apple Music, the only new release for miles on the albums chart.
Behind Gaga are Korn’s The Serenity of Suffering (Roadrunner) and the deluxe edition of Michael Buble’s seventh album, Nobody But Me (Reprise). At #4 is I Prevail’s Lifelines (Fearless), ahead of Jimmy Eat World’s Integrity Blues (Exotic Location/RCA).
The Pretty Reckless’ Who You Selling For (Goin’ Down/Razor & Tie) comes in at #6 with Joe Budden’s Rage & The Machine (Mood Muzik/Empire) locked in at #7. Contemporary Christian artist Chris Tomlin sees his Never Lose Sight (Sixstep/Sparrow) awaken at #8.
Columbia’s Leonard Cohen, now 82, returns to the Top 10 at #9 with You Want it Darker.
The year’s first wave of holiday releases finds A Pentatonix Christmas (RCA) in the lead at #11 with Grant’s A Tennessee Christmas (Sparrow) at #13 and McLachlan’s Wonderland (Verve) at #15.
