WME EYEING
BOEHLY EMPIRE?

Could Ari Emanuel expand his WME/IMG empire into awards show production and print media? The New York Post is reporting that the super agent is in talks with former Guggenheim Partners honcho Todd Boehly about taking over his empire of dick clark productions and the troubled publications Hollywood Reporter and Billboard.

The Post quotes two sources, one noting they have had talks about an acquisition. WME says it's not happening; Boehly’s Eldridge Industries had no comment.

Boehly, who departed Guggenheim a year ago, taking Guggenheim’s media properties—and a chunk of Dodgers ownership—with him, has been looking to dump the companies, working with Moelis & Co. and Goldman Sachs to find a buyer. The Post story says they may have a potential buyer in China too.

WME/IMG is valued at close to $5.5b and recently received a $250m investment from Japan’s SoftBank, so it has money to spend.
