Pandora has created three new charts powered by Next Big Sound: Trendsetters, Predictions and Top Spins. The charts, designed to inform and act as a resource for music makers, will track the most-played tracks, the most-added up-and-coming artists, and which artists are likely headed for sales and streaming charts.
The Top Spins Chart features the 100 songs streamed the most on Pandora over the past week, with spin counts ranging between 1.5m to 10m plays per week. Songs “sunset” after 16 weeks unless they are on a “hot streak.” A hot streak refers to any track that has not yet reached its peak rank and spin count.
The Trendsetters Chart highlights the 20 up-and-coming artists with the most stations added over the past week.
The Predictions Chart does exactly that: Who is headed for the charts? The data is created by a proprietary algorithm built by the Next Big Sound team.
“Our charts are the visualization of this fan activity, and are an easy to use tool that gives artists and their teams vital information to help them make decisions and grow their careers,” said Sara Clemens, Chief Operating Officer of Pandora.
The new predictions chart is high on several British acts: Christine and the Queens on the hot U.K. imprint Because Music; Warner Bros. singer Dua Lipa and Virgin EMI’s Ell Eyre, plus Swedish rapper Yung Lean and Hollywood Records’ Forever in Your Mind.
