U.K. MIDWEEKS: BLOSSOMS TO BLOOM AT #1

New Virgin EMI band Blossoms, developed by MD Clive Cawley and team at the UMG label, are off to a roaring start; their debut album is headed for #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart. On the singles side, two tracks featuring Justin Bieber occupy the top two spots.

Blossoms are 7k combined sales ahead of their closest competitor at midweek stage: London rapper Giggs with his fourth album, Landlord, released via own SN1 imprint.

Last week’s #1, Viola Beach, moves down to #3 with their posthumously released debut, while ELO slides to #4 with All Over the World—The Very Best Of (Epic). Indie band Wild Beasts start at #5 with fifth album Boy King (Domino). Also hitting high is Moose Blood with their second album, Blush (Hopeless), at #6.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, Major Lazer, Bieber and 's “Cold Water” (Because Music), is on course for its third week at #1 in Blighty. However, another track featuring Bieber is also in the running—DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You” (Polydor) at #2.

Two Virgin EMI releases slide down one place; “Dancing On My Own” by Calum Scott slips to #3 and “Perfect Strangers” by Jonas Blue moves down to #4. “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Chainsmokers f/Daya (RCA) also drops a spot, landing at #5.

Other tracks making an impact in Blighty include “Final Song” (RCA) by MØ, lifting three places to #12, “Heathens” (Atlantic) by twenty one pilots, moving to #13 from #20, and Chainsmokers f/Halsey’s “Closer” (RCA), rising 15 spots to #18.
