The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Films in America Over the Weekend

The highly anticipated Disney/Pixar sequel, Finding Dory, exploded at the box office this weekend, celebrating the largest opening weekend for an animated feature with $136m. That's a 93.8% increase when compared to predecessor Finding Nemo, which raked in $70m in 2003.

Finding Dory also wound up with the biggest largest single day and opening day number with around $55m. And when you take its international cume into consideration, the fish flick earned $186m, and it has yet to open in France, Spain and other European territories.

In second place, we see another debut—Warner Bros.' Central Intelligence, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Kevin Hart—which bowed with $35m, which isn't too shabby for a brand new, adult-targeted comedy.

1. Finding Dory (Disney) $136m 4,305/$31,634 avg. (debut)
2. Central Intelligence (Warner Bros.) $35m 3,508/$9,835 avg. (debut)
3. The Conjuring 2 (Warner Bros.) $16m 3,356/$4,635 avg. (week 2)

5. Warcraft (Universal) $7m 3,406/$1,914 avg. (week 2)
