Jampol Artist Management has partnered with Shamrock Capital Advisors to "acquire iconic portfolios of intellectual property rights to a select group of legacy artists in music and other media." In other words, JAM, which has built its business on managing the estates of The Doors' Jim Morrison (and managing the surviving band members), Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Tupac Shakur and The Ramones, will now venture (with its financial partner) to own works outright.
JAM head Jeff Jampol was the subject of a New York Times piece this morning that broke the story. Shortly after completing his interview for the profile, Jampol bolted into the street in pursuit of an ambulance.
