SONY WISHES LYNTON A HAPPY NEW (FISCAL) YEAR

Sony Corp. will kick off its next fiscal year Friday—which also happens to be April Fool’s Day—with a new look to its organizational chart. On that day, Michael Lynton, CEO of Sony Entertainment and Sony Corp. of America, will be one of four bigwigs elevated to the post of Corporate Executive Officer. This so-called “reclassification” gives Lynton oversight of recorded music as well as Sony/ATV and Sony Pictures.

Lynton and his three compadres “will assume ultimate responsibility for the Sony Group's management within the scope assigned to them by the company's board of directors," according to the announcement

Six other execs, including Doug Morris and Marty Bandier, are getting the title of Business Executive.
