Disney's Zootopia is the #1 movie in America for the third consecutive week, raking in another $38m. That brings the blockbuster’s stateside total to $201m—the third highest domestic total for Disney’s animation studio in history. And worldwide, it’s currently preparing to pass the $600m mark. With Easter weekend approaching, it seems unlikely that the family fun-filled flick (with a bunny for a lead character) will slow down any time soon.
Zootopia’s closest competition, Lionsgate debut The Divergent Series: Allegiant, fell short of expectations, pulling in just under $30m—the worst bow of the franchise's three films. That being said, its opening weekend number also failed to come anywhere near its $110m budget.
Sony/Columbia's faith-based pic, Miracles From Heaven, meanwhile, follows at #3 with $15m for the second-biggest debut.
And Fox’s Deadpool continues to hold on to a Top 5 position in its sixth week out. The Ryan Reynolds-starrer’s domestic total ($341m) has officially surpassed that of 2014 smash Guardians of the Galaxy ($333m).
