EAGLES OF DEATH METAL:
"LOVE," ROUND THREE

The third round of the Eagles of Death Metal “Play It Forward” campaign has begun, with an array of artists—including Elton John, Beck, members of The Strokes and more—covering the band’s “I Love You All the Time” and donating the proceeds to the nonprofit Sweet Stuff Foundation, which provides assistance to musicians and their families in times of need, as well as the families of victims of the 11/13 attacks in Paris. The org was founded in 2013 by EODM’s Joshua Homme.

Check out all the entries here.

iTunes, Amazon Prime Music, Spotify and TuneCore Digital Distribution are also donating proceeds from the various versions. The site also features an entry form for artists wishing to submit their own versions.

The enterprise began in the wake of last year’s terrorist attacks in Paris, during which EODM were performing at the Bataclan, the epicenter of that nightmare; afterward, Duran Duran donated monies from EODM’s cover of their “Save a Prayer,” which became the focus of a fan effort to push the track to #1 at iTunes.

The first round of covers of “I Love You All the Time,” from last December, included versions by Florence + The Machine (featuring The Maccabees), Kings Of Leon, My Morning Jacket, Imagine Dragons and Jimmy Eat World. Round two’s participants included Matt Cameron, Petra Haden, Chelsea Wolfe and Nada Surf.

The undertaking has benefited from the assistance of Fondation de France and FENVAC. Play It Forward EODM Campaign donations to Sweet Stuff will aid the samily members of those killed in the 11/13 Paris attacks—as well as the family of slain EODM crew member Nick Alexander. Here's a sample of EODM's message on the Play It Forward page:

Hello talented friend, The senseless and violent terrorist attacks of Nov. 13, 2015 in Paris have left us all unsettled and we dare not give another second of precious time to those who have tried to steal our freedoms and take away our power.

Instead, we are writing to ask for your help to Play It Forward. We are calling upon our friends to donate their time, talent and good will in a show of solidarity to help the victims of these atrocious acts in Paris and those affected by terrorism worldwide.
