CHIP HOOPER, R.I.P.

Chip Hooper, Paradigm Talent Agency’s head of music, has died after a four-year struggle with brain cancer; he was 53. The beloved, award-winning music exec worked with such clients as Dave Matthews Band, Ray LaMontagne and Phish, and oversaw agents in four Paradigm offices. He received Pollstar’s Bobby Brooks Agent of the Year honor eight times—more than anyone ever.

Hooper reportedly suffered a stroke yesterday, and passed away shortly thereafter. He had recently made headlines by attending an Oakland University basketball game; his son Max is a star guard on the Golden Grizzlies. His dad saw the Grizzlies prevail that night over Detroit Mercy.

Phish's Trey Anastasio recently offered an emotional dedication of this song to the band's then-ailing rep, whom he described as "an important member of our extended family." The crowd roared its support and appreciation.
