OYE COMO WHA'?

Carlos Santana is getting the band back together.

The guitarist has reunited with the classic 1971 lineup that included Gregg Rolie and Neal Schon to produce Santana IV, which Thirty Tigers/RED will release on 4/15. First single “Anywhere You Want to Go” comes out 2/5.

The edition of the band that produced the classic Santana III, which included "Everybody's Everything" and "No One to Depend On," has not performed together since 1971. Besides organist Rolie and guitarist Schon, the duo that left Santana to form Journey, the lineup includes percussionist Michael Carabello and drummer Michael Shrieve. Current Santana members Karl Perazzo (percussion) and Benny Rietveld (bass) appear on the recordm along with singer Ronald Isley, who guests on two cuts.

Schon approached Carlos Santana about recording together three years ago. Initial writing sessions and rehearsals took place in 2013, and the group recorded the 16 tracks in 2014 and 2015. They have also discussed a tour of the band, possibly with Journey.
