Drizzy, Riri and 'Ye: Three for Grammy time?

MUSIC’S BIGGEST RELEASE WEEK?

Word has it that in addition to Kanye West—who has tweeted a 2/11 release date for his forthcoming Def Jam set, Swish—we will see long-awaited new sets from YMCMB/Republic’s Drake and Roc Nation’s Rihanna around Grammy time as well.

When will the latter two superstars deliver to get maximum Grammy bang? Can they do so without each diluting the other’s impact?

As you may have read here, Riri appears in a new CBS spot touting both the Grammys and the Super Bowl.

In any event, having these three superstar releases in the marketplace at once, amid the sky-high profile of Music’s Biggest Night, is undeniably good for the biz.

Riri’s 2012 set, Unapologetic, bowed at #1 on the HITS Album Sales Chart with 240k; it’s sold 1.2m+ RTD. Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late—regarded as a “mixtape” rather than an official album—moved just under 500k after its surprise drop just before Valentine’s Day 2015, and its tally to date is just under 1.2m.

Yeezus, Kanye’s challenging mid-2013 set, hit with 328k and is up to 724k RTD.

In other scheduling news, Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Donald Trump has totally screwed up Satan’s timetable.
