Time for another "now it's official" item: Ayelet Schiffman has been upped to SVP of Rhythm & Dance Promotion at Columbia, EVP/Head of Promo Lee Leipsner has announced.
Schiffman, who's been at the label for 21 years, has worked closely with such major acts as Adele, Beyoncé, Pharrell, J. Cole and John Legend, among countless others. She is well versed in many dances, including the Hora.
Leipsner hailed her as "a cornerstone of our department and the entire promotion community."
For her part, Schiffman thanked Leipsner, Joel Klaiman and Rob Stringer for the opportunity and described Columbia as "an extension of my family."
"As my mentor and boss, Lee has given me the opportunity to grow into the executive that I've become," she added. "I am truly learning from the best in the industry. I’d like to extend a special thank you to Jim Burruss, for his guidance and support throughout my career. I look forward to continuing to work with our tremendous roster of artists, to further lead and guide them through our world of radio."
The Israel-born, Westchester, NY-bred Schiffman started out in Sony's College Department in 1994, working on both coasts (and at both Columbia and Epic) in the ensuing years before becoming Columbia's VP of Rhythm Promo in 2011.
