U.K. MIDWEEK CHARTS: THE KING CLOSES IN ON THE QUEEN

ElvisIf I Can Dream (Sony Music CG) continues to sell monumental amounts in Blighty after ending 2015 with 809k and shifting another 71k last week. Now it could even overtake Adele’s 25 (XL) to claim the #1 spot after spending two weeks at the top of the chart following its 10/30 release. 25 is still leading by 4k, down from 6k last week. Will she claim the throne for the seventh week running?

Meanwhile, the other stars of 2015 continue to dominate the midweek Official Albums Top 5. Justin Bieber’s Purpose (Def Jam) remains at #3, Jess Glynne’s I Cry When I Laugh (Atlantic) holds at #4 and James Bay’s Chaos and the Calm (Virgin EMI) jumps five places to #5.

On the Official Singles midweek update, Motorhead fans have paid their respects to icon Lemmy, who sadly passed away last week. “Ace of Spades” (Sanctuary) is up #94 places to #9, 35 years after its release in 1980.

Leading the Top 40 is Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” which is heading for a fifth week at #1, closely followed by his previous single “Sorry” at #2.

The rest of the Top 5 remains static: Adele’s “Hello” is at #3, Bieber’s “What Do You Mean” at #4, and Grace f/G-Eazy’s "You Don’t Own Me" (Columbia) at #5.
