The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2016 inductees. They are Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, N.W.A and Steve Miller.
The 31st annual induction ceremony will take place on 4/8 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The show will be broadcast on HBO in the spring. Tickets for the event will become available in February.
Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their debut recording. The latest batch was chosen by 800+ RRHOF Foundation voters and participants in an online poll.
The Rock Hall in Cleveland will open a special exhibit on 2016's inductees in conjunction with the ceremony.
We're particularly pleased (though not at all surprised) that Cheap Trick made the cut. In a recent Critics' Choice posting, our own Simon Glickman argued passionately and persuasively for the band's induction
