ADELE BREAKS U.K. CHART RECORD

As U.S. sales of Adele’s 25 look set to top 3.5 million, the U.K. born singer has sailed past Oasis’ chart record, claiming Blighty’s fastest-selling album of all time. According to the Official Charts Company, 25 has topped 737k sales since Friday, passing the 696k Be Here Now by Oasis notched up in 1997. However, the feat isn’t quite as comparatively impressive as it might look.

Be Here Now was released on a Thursday, meaning it had just three days of sales counting toward its first official week before the chart was announced on Sunday, when release day was still on a Monday. Its seven-day total was 813k.

The final U.K. sales of 25 will be revealed tomorrow, can Adele shift another 77k before then to properly claim the seven-day title? Stay tuned.
