DRAKE TAKES
THE CAKE

Drake is breaking all kinds of records, the old kind as well as the new kind. The rapper-raconteur’s 2/12 surprise-release mixtape, If You're Reading This It's Too Late (YM/CM/Republic), has just become the first 2015 release to achieve seven-digit sales in the U.S., according to the digit counters at SoundScan.

Total year-to-date sales as of the week ending 8/7 stand at 1.007m. That’s cool, but lest we forget, Taylor Swift’s 1989 sold even more units in its week of release alone. Swift’s album is also this year’s top seller with 1.463m in 2015 and 5.124m total.
