Wu Tang Clan founding member and acclaimed producer turned actor/ filmmaker RZA has tapped Azealia Banks to star in his upcoming rap drama, Coco. The film will be released as a feature through Lionsgate/Codeblack Films.
Set in Brooklyn, it co-stars Common, Jill Scott and Lorraine Toussaint and has already begun shooting. Banks plays a twenty-something year-old, budding rapper who strengthens her skills through poetry when her parents encourage her to get an education.
This project will serve as a follow-up to RZA's directorial debut, 2012's The Man With the Iron Fists. Russell Crowe's martial-arts moves will be notably absent in Coco, however...or so we've been told.
