A$AP IS RIGHT

Another hip-hop album got the time-shift treatment, as A$AP Rocky’s At.Long.Last.A$AP (RCA) became available digitally Sunday at midnight, a week before its previously scheduled release date. Rocky set up the move earlier on Sunday with a tweet, and the whole thing worked like a charm, propelling the album to the top of the iTunes leaderboard within minutes of its appearance, and there it remains. It's also hit #1 in the U.K., Canada, Australia, Germany, New Zealand and Ireland.

The first-week sales picture is a bit murky as there are no pre-orders; the Tuesday after a Monday holiday is also typically depressed due to holiday burnout. Initial sales are just south of 15k.

It's thought the early release was part of a game plan to avoid going head-to-head with Florence + the Machine at retail.

At.Long.Last.A$AP features collaborations with Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Mark Ronson, Mos Def, M.I.A., Jamie Foxx, Danger Mouse, Miguel and ScHoolboy Q. Rocky’s last album, 2013’s Long.Live.A$AP, debuted with 138k and went on to sell 514k.

Single "Everyday" featuring Rod Stewart, Miguel and Mark Ronson is impacting Rhythm radio right now.
