THE IVORS: HOZIER, SHEERAN, CLEAN BANDIT TAKE TOP HONORS

Hozier's "Take Me to Church" took Best Song Musically and Lyrically honors at today's Ivor Novello Awards, while Ed Sheeran won for Songwriter of the Year. Clean Bandit won for Best Contemporary Song and Most Performed Work with "Rather Be."

The Album Award winner at the songwriting honors' 60th annual gala, which took place at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, was Bombay Bicycle Club for So Long, See You Tomorrow.

Elton John presented Sheeran with his trophy.

Black Sabbath took home a Lifetime Achievement Award, a major coup for satanic metal's respectability. The Inspiration Award went to Manic Street Preachers and Annie Lennox took the BASCA Fellowship.

Boy George received an award noting his Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Other winners included composer David Holmes, who took the Original Film Score prize for '71, and Natalie Holt and Martin Phipps, who received the Best TV Soundtrack Ivor for The Honourable Woman.
